We read 128 live UK motorsport vacancies on 12 September 2026. 34 of the 39 machining jobs asked for no formal qualification at all, and there is not one apprenticeship naming motorsport within 30 miles of Silverstone. The door is open. Almost nobody is pointed at it.

What stops a transfer is a tool, not a career change.

An engineer who has spent ten years designing pipework understands load paths, tolerance and design for manufacture. What a motorsport advert asks for on top is usually one named package they were never taught. These are the ones that come up, and where to go and learn them.
